BY MIEKO OUCH I
Directed by Joey Tremblay
March 10 to 27, 2004

Paris, 1740. A shy countess is imprisoned in a loveless
marriage. A musician faces a dwindling career.
The two are united when the cruel count orchestrates
a plot to humiliate his wife. Vivaldi, the Red Priest,
is commissioned to compose a new work. At the same
time, he must prepare the countess for a musical
performance before the court. The virtuoso’s lessons
go beyond the elegant strains of the violin.

The Red Priest is a remarkable tale of passion and
romance, featuring spectacular sets, lavish costumes,
and the glorious music of Vivaldi.

“DESTINED TO BLAZE A TRAIL ACROSS THE CANADIAN
THEATRE SCENE AS VIVID AND BRIGHT AS ANTONIO
VIVALDI'S SHOCK OF FLAMING RED HAIR.”

“A PRECISELY WRITTEN AND RICH SET OF VARIATIONS
ON THEMES OF FREEDOM, ORDER AND LONELINESS.”
