THE

theology
CREATED,
CONCEIVED AND

OLD
TROUT PUPPET
WORKSHOP
March
23 to April 3, 2004

In
this, their latest
production, the Old Trouts creep trembling into the Great Kitchen of
Heaven, to
investigate its secrets and reveal therein the fundamental truths of
existence.
They plunge headlong into the stock pot and sing hallelujahs to the
feast
before us, illuminating no less than the very breath of the world, the spiritus mundi, the eternal and constant
miracle of creation.
The Old Trouts summon
the ghost of Antonin Carême, Le Cuisiner
des rois et le Roi des cuisiniers, grandfather of classical French
cuisine. Left alone as a child at the
gates of revolutionary Paris, he found apprenticeship at the humble
restaurant
of an un-named Chef who taught him the mysteries of transcendental
cuisine. Who was the un-named chef? And what did he teach the grubby urchin who
became the greatest cook in the world?
This
is no ordinary
puppet-show about cooking and the
French Revolution. It’s the first
congregation of the Church of the Un-named Chef.

The
Sleeping Land
by Floyd
Favel
February
17 to 28, 2004
In 1908, a massive
explosion flattened the Tunguska Region of central Siberia. The only
witnesses to
one of the largest explosions in human history were native Evenk
reindeer
herders. The cause of the Tunguska explosion remains a mystery.
Floyd Favel’s
compelling
new play explores the Evenk people’s interpretation of the Tunguska
mystery.
The Sleeping Land blends beautiful music and powerful story-telling
from
a cross-section of cultures, traditions and languages.
Globe Theatre is
thrilled
to premiere this exciting new creation
by Saskatchewan First Nations artist Floyd Favel, who is regarded as
“one
of the biggest talents on the Canadian arts scene.”
