THEATRE PRODUCTION

Governor
General’s Award winning playwright Joan MacLeod takes us into the
sweet,
manic and complicated world of 15 year old Braidie.
Clothes,
cars, dating, attending school, avoiding school, avoiding “the voice of
Mum” – there’s this and more on Braidie’s mind. She’s compelled by a
local
news story – a group of teens, a victim, the accused, the bystanders.
“The
ones who watched the girl get beat up, they aren’t accused of anything.
To be accused you have to have gotten in there, down and dirty.”
But
are Braidie and her friends that different from the girls making
headlines?
When does this behaviour really begin? And does becoming an adult mean
we’ll outgrow it?
The
Shape of A Girl is a riveting, honest and humourous look at surviving
adolescence.
A must see for anyone who knows or remembers what it’s like to be a
teen.
“SO
POWERFUL AND REAL, IT LEAVES YOU THINKING ABOUT IT LONG AFTER THE LAST
LINE IS SPOKEN…BRILLIANT, INSPIRING THEATRE.”

“A
STUNNING EXAMPLE OF THEATRE’S SINGULAR POWER TO INTERPRET LIFE’S
TRAGEDIES
SO THEY HAVE CONTEXT AND MEANING.”
